Graduate student applicants are strongly encouraged to first apply for external funding, such as NSERC, prior to the Forestry/Botany deadlines.

Many fellowship deadlines occur in the fall before the application period, so you need to be organized early. Most students apply for federal grants through their home university – if you are unsure how to apply, start with your undergraduate office team.
